Human-centred AIgrounded in creative practice.

I research and prototype AI-enabled tools and workflows that support creative agency, ground generation in cultural knowledge, and make emerging technologies learnable.

Research trajectory

From understanding creators to grounding generative systems.

One research programme, developed across three connected scales.

01 · Academic profile

Lecturer, interaction design researcher and design educator.

Shaw Qin is a lecturer at Donghua University working across human–AI creative agency, culturally grounded generative systems and technology-enabled design education.

Her practice connects creator research, interaction prototyping, curated datasets, LoRA model development, open-source generative workflows and research-led teaching.

02 · Programme contribution

Connecting programme coordination with studio-level teaching support.

I work at Shanghai International College of Fashion and Innovation (SCF), College of Fashion and Design, Donghua University, a joint-education programme between Donghua University and the University of Edinburgh. I connect academic coordination with bilingual, studio-level teaching support.

Future Contribution

I aim to connect research, design education and emerging technologies while keeping disciplinary judgement, making and human agency at the centre.

Guiding Question

How can design education preserve core capabilities while preparing students to work critically with emerging technologies?

Research Programme

Human agency, cultural grounding and responsible technology

  • Human–AI creative agency
  • Culturally grounded generative systems
  • Responsible emerging technologies
  • Open and traceable research workflows

Curriculum Contribution

Develop core capability alongside technological fluency

  • Core design skills and disciplinary judgement
  • Critical and responsible AI literacy
  • Assessment that distinguishes independent capability from tool-assisted work
  • Creative coding, physical computing and interaction prototyping
  • Research-led project teaching

Collaboration & Making

Connect disciplines, institutions and modes of making

  • Design × computer science
  • Physical computing and interactive systems
  • International research and teaching
  • Cultural and industry collaboration
